Thrust Roller Bearing
Thrust roller bearings are used to bear the combined axial and radial load, mainly the axial load. Still, the radial load shall not exceed 55% of the axial load. Compared with other thrust roller bearings, this type of bearing has a lower friction factor, higher speed, and has self-aligning performance.

Cylindrical Thrust Roller Bearings
These bearings consist of small cylindrical rollers arranged flat with their axes pointing to the axis of the bearing. They give very good carrying capacity and are cheap, but tend to wear due to the differences in radial speed and friction which is higher than with ball bearings.
Needle Thrust Roller Bearings
Needle thrust roller bearings with a dimensionally stable holder to securely hold and guide a large number of the needle. It provides a high degree of axial rigidity in the smallest space. Application may be used as the raceway surface of the adjacent part of the machine.
Tapered Thrust Roller Bearings
Tapered thrust roller bearings are miniature; they are arranged so that their axes of sub converge on one point on the bearing axis. They are used in pairs in either direction to accommodate the axial thrust and radial loads. These are commonly used in automotive application types.
Spherical Thrust Roller Bearings
The spherical thrust roller bearing is a kind of self-aligning bearing. In using just now, it allows up to about 2 degrees of shaft misalignment. The contact angle helps this bearing handle a small amount of radial load. This bearing lubrication needs carefully because their large contact area can lead to smear slide.

Steel Thrust Ball Bearing
The thrust ball bearings are classified into two kinds: unidirectional thrust bearing and bidirectional thrust bearing. The former can bear the axial force in one direction and the latter can bear the axial forces in two directions. Both unidirectional and bidirectional thrust ball bearings cannot bear any radial force.

These are effective in difficult-to-access locations. For articulated joints, we now recommend using high-capacity four-point bearings in combination with maintenance-free spherical plain bearings.

How Thrust Roller Bearings Work
Most thrust roller bearings use balls to support the machines with which they are used. They contain many small metal balls in a band around the perimeter. You can see an example of a thrust roller bearing in the photo above. Thrust roller bearings such as this are used in applications where a machine’s moving parts apply an axial load. With their arrangement of balls, they are able to assist with the rotation of a machine’s moving parts.
There are other types of thrust roller bearings as well. In addition to thrust roller bearings, there are cylinder thrust roller bearings. Cylinder thrust roller bearings feature cylindrical-shaped rollers that point towards the axis. Another type of thrust roller bearing is magnetic. Magnetic thrust roller bearings live up to their namesake by producing a magnetic field. They are made of ferromagnetic materials that produce a magnetic field. The presence of this magnetic field helps to support the axial thrust. Of all the different types, though, none are more popular than thrust roller bearings.

Something else to consider when choosing thrust roller bearings is the ball material. Thrust roller bearings featuring cheap balls tend to degrade quickly.
